FAQ

  1. Do you service only the TV and film industry?
Yes, mostly. But we would be happy to build apps that have nothing to do with TV and films.
  2. Who owns the copyright of the apps once it is published?
It depends. If Blackcube is providing the service to build the app for you, you are the Publisher, you own all the rights and own the source code. If Blackcube is engaged to co-publish the app with you, it depends on the negotiated terms.
  3. Can an app be built before the TV show/Film is released?
Yes, if clearance from all rights-holders has been secured. As a thought, a mobile app that is built to market a soon-to-be-released television series or film should be published BEFORE the actual broadcast/release to create buzz.
  4. Do you build your own creative apps?
Yes we do. We are a good mix of left and right brained people at Blackcube, and sometimes our right brains take over. You'll see them (the apps, not the heads!) at the App Store.
  5. How long does it take to build an app?
It depends. A very simple app can be done within a week and a complicated one (involving digital artists, animation…) will take several months. Please see the section on TIME under the WHAT WE DO tab.
  6. Are there funds to pay for these apps?
Yes, there are. Please see the section on FINANCING under the WHAT WE DO tab for more details.
